Raw, wild and very temperamental hardcore from Peru. I have found them thanks to a friend who said it's the best hardcore band from South America. Sure, I took that quite easily, but once I saw their Ep and CD I bought them immediately because of the awesome graphics. And than when I played them I recognized that friend's references wasn't too far from the truth. This interview is quite old, if I remember correctly it's from 2005, but nevermind ...

 

 

 

Hello there Jose, to start this interview up, me and the readers needs to know some basic information about your band, so please tell me: What does it mean Dios Hastio?, When did you start the band? Please also include your discography. thanx
well the band started in 95..dios hastio means the boredom turned into something divine...omnipresent like god...when we started...we were just oscar(guitar) and me(voice)...we imagined this like a project...just for record not to play like a common band...but then eduardo joined us in bass...and o.a.d.m. were choosed like session drummer for our first demo raza de gusanos....then he became part of the band and we started to play like a normal band....then paco joined us like second guitar.......lately eduardo left the band and now paco is playing bass......ok our discography consist of..

What was the highest place you you have ever played? I think Peru is quite mountainosu country, isn't it? Any problems with oxygene during your highland's shows, haha?
we just have played on the coast area of the country until now...next april we are going to play in arequipa..thats on the high lands..so then we are going to see what happens...the cities that we played in peru were trujillo,piura on the north side of the country and ica in the south...we played in arica (chile) two times and we were supposed to play in guayaquil(ecuador)..but we didnt cause the cops made intervention in the place and the concert was cancelled..but we played in riobamba..thats in the high lands of ecuador next to quito.....it was a really nice experience...we played with bands like kriminalistica,pesmenben IV,rebelion disidente and some others...reaaly great....now we are trying to travel abroad again..but we havent nothing decided yet...

Any other good bands from Peru? What about Guyana or Suriname ... are there any punk bands, I have never heard of anyone?
..well some other bands that i love in here are ingobernables,maestro canibal,autonomia and demencia..thats talking about actual bands...but in the past here we had greta bnads like G3,descontrol,kaos general,situacion hostil,kaos,dr hc,ataque frontal,guerrilla urbana,escuela cerrada,curriculum mortis and others.......maybe it would sound strange cause we are near guyana and suriname but we dont know nothing about those countries..it seems like they were from another continent not from america.....really strange but thats true....i dont have any idea if there are punk scene...metal scene or whatever.....

Did you ever played in these far countries? Is it easy to do punk gigs in Peru, are people interested in going to see them?
no we have never been there...doing gigs in here are always not an easy thing,..people are not very interested(in good music)..people loves new metal and shits like that....not hc thrash stuff....so if you organize that can of gigs you are going to loose money for sure....but the guys who do it are thinking in keeping the spirit alive not in making profits...so loosing money is not important at all....well it depends of how much money you loose obviously...

On the cover of your "Morfologia del desastre " 7' is this: 0,4+0,3.2n what's that, any secret code?
well thats not a secret code....is just a formula.....made by an almost unknown scientist....that formula is supposed to measure what were considered impossible to be calculated like special volumes and distances....the geometric form thats over the formula is obtained developing that formula.....sounds crazy.....i think that guy the scientist i mean was of the same era like descartes...i m not so sure...we loved the picture so we decided to put under it the formula from what it came......

Your lyrics sound to me very blasphemously, nonspecifically ... it also sounds quite dark. From your lyrics I can imagine you are not that kind of aggressive, for direct action shouting kind of a punk band, it's more like you really dislike what is going on here in generaly, very pessimistic. Are my feelings good? What are your main sources of hate and influences for your lyrics? I am also interested in any bands whose lyrics you really like, if you cane name just some.
well as you said we dont do direct lyrics.....maybe there are too many bands into that ..we say same things many times but with other words..with other view....pessimistic??? yeah ..i think we are very pessimistic....at least the two guys who started this ..so oscar and me.....some times i think oscar is really insane....but he s a nice guy...and hes always making new songs....and i am always desperated about recording em....so dios hastio is always into new projects....thats good....but going back to your question.....yeah we are very pessimistic...so your feelings are all right.....when i was younger i used to read some stuff like kierkegaard,kafka,sartre,cioran...but i think if you need inspiration now....you only must turn on the tv on any news program...you can get indignated about how they distortion the true facts to let you see what the owners of the media wants you to see....or if you get some impartial info....is common to think that theres no way to kill those bastards and try to make a better world.....cause those bastards have made a system in what humans cant survive without authority..thats why we were in a dehumanizer program since many generations ago.....they found the way to make us a cruel race...in which ambition is the only god.....i always loved dead kennedys lyrics...i cant remember bands that had impressed me by their lyrics.....well altely i was listening a band named face down in shit....really interesting stuff.....

Is Peru dogmatic, religious country ... hard to live in? I think you should not like christianity that much because of what it did to your native people and culture in the past. I saw the documentary film few days ago from some parts of Peru, that were completely destroyed by christian conquerors and rebuild into their picture. And what i was thinking about was, that clergy should say sorry to your fathers at the same breath they want to hear "sorry" here, from the past time's communist officers. What's your opinion on this?
peruvian people have no nationalism sense...and no revenge sense too..people are always very tolerant about christianity...people have bad memory..or simply they dont care about what happened in the past...majority of population in cities like lima are always trying to travel to live in spain in usa in europe..in whatever place less being in here.....reason?? just money.....maybe one of the worst things in this place...is that nobody wants to be peruvian.....so here you cant find a national identity....just people from highlands or maybe from forest..but not in big cities.....its impossible to hear "sorry" from religous heads in peru...and in all america latina...they were supposed to give us god...and thats the best thing for a poor country like this...believe in god.....try to believe in a different world....the one that jesus have promised to us??....i think christianity is a great think for capitalistic system..a great drug for poor people....and by the way another way to control population.....

I would like to ask you about an interest of people from abroad, like USA, Japan, Europe ... I always hear like people from capitalist countries are not interested in east european ( i know this, i am from here, haha), asian, latino american ... etc. hardcore bands, but in few last years, thanx to labels like 625 and some others seems, that south american bands are on the rise of the, let's say, american hardcore/punk interest. Aren't you afraid a bit that it could be only any kind of new trend, like to have the most fucking obscure punk band from the amazonian forest or antarctica? Do you feel any reel interest in your band from this "west" part of the world?
well...honestly....i dont think that southamerican bands are on the rise of nothing...maybe brasilian bands are more comercial stuff.....but we always have the same problems with distro there like my friends from colombia or ecuador......is true that there are some guys really interested in music from this side of the world....but they are just a few....and maybe there a re some guys that are only interested in exotic stuff....yeah they think that we are exotic bands from exotic places....and they are looking for bands from birmania and surinam....but they are not really a strong demand...its easy to see this..just try to get in contact with some big distros in usa or europe..and they will tell you something like...yeah man i know your band ..i really like to take some copies but people are not interested in southamerican stuff these days, sorry pal.....and let me know that they are just telling the truth....we are not afraid about nothing cause things as hard as ever for us....

I like you use your native language (spanish, right?) in your songs, and it also gives to your booklets some specific mystical/dark feelings ... i have always famous spanish inquisition on my mind! On the other hand, thanx to this, your band is like a big black box to me, i can not get any simple info from most of your releases. Can we get anyhow the translation of your lyrics? Why you don't want to put equal info/translations in english into your releases?
..yeah thats true....in all of our previous releases....but we try to change this situation in our last cd...cervix inferno....it has translations of all the songs...and our last ep the morfologia del desastre also has translations ....we needed the help of some friends to translate all the songs...our english is not very good..and by the way we are a little lazy for that things...specially me....but is true that is a big problem for foreign people to understand what we are saying.....at this time we are trying to create a web site with translations..in order to give more information about our activities like a band...

well at this time we are waiting for the release for our split 7ep with coche bomba.by squawk recds from france.....besides that we are going to release a comp cd with songs from 1995 to 2004....besides that we must release a split with N.N. from argentina.....and we are going to release a cdr version of the " a medio camino de ur" that was originally released like a single tape it will include bonus songs of course......
